The Raindrop Technique is a unique practice based on methods that have been used for centuries to rejuvenate the body and mind.  It combines the science of aromatherapy with the techniques of Vita Flex, reflexology, massage, etc, in the application of pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils, which are applied on various areas of the body to bring structural and electrical alignment.

Why is it called Raindrop?

Raindrop received its name because the oils are dispensed like little drops of rain, from a height of about six to twelve inches above the back. The oils are then gently massaged alongside the vertebrae with a “feathering” motion inspired by Lakota techniques.

The Raindrop Technique uses 9 essential oils: 7 single oils and 2 therapeutic blends. After the essential oils have been applied, a steam heated towel is placed on the back for 10 to 15 minutes, allowing the recipient to relax deeper. (Patients with certain conditions, such as MS, have a cold towel applied instead of a hot towel.)

Where did Raindrop Technique come from?

This innovative technique originated from the research of D. Gary Young N.D. and an idea he got while visiting with a Lakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk over two decades ago.

How long does a Raindrop session last?

A Raindrop treatment typically lasts between 50 and 75 minutes depending on the client's response to the regimen.

Why is Raindrop so expensive?

The Raindrop Technique uses only pure, therapeutic grade essential oils from Young Living Essential Oils. These oils are guaranteed to be free from chemical adulterations. Young Living Essential Oils are among the highest quality standards. This is the company I chose for the purpose of giving my family and clients what I feel to be some of the best oils on the market today.

What are some of the benefits of Raindrop?

  • Reduced Pain

  • Helps Relief Stress & Emotional Well-being

  • Relax Muscles

  • Helps Reduce Inflammation

  • Helps Improve Circulation

  • Helps Detox the Body Systems

  • Helps improve Immune function

Raindrop is different for each individual, unlike anyone else, and is very personal and specific to each person's needs. Many recipients feel the benefits of the oils for several days afterwards, as they recognize that the pain has decreased or is completely gone, there is no fever, they have more mobility, and they have an overall feeling of peace and a renewed zest for life. In short, the benefits of this therapy go well beyond the physical benefits. Raindrop can not only help relieve pain and restore immediate physical well-being, but it can set in motion the healing and realignment processes that will last for weeks.

What essential oils will be used during Raindrop?

The standard Raindrop Technique uses clinically tested essential oils that have antiviral, antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, and anti-inflammatory properties and are soothing and energizing to the body as well. These oils include Valor II(blend), Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Aroma Siez (blend) and Peppermint.

For certain conditions, other essential oils can be substituted to target the needs of the individual.

  • Valor II™ - Gary Young specially formulated Valor II™ essential oil blend as his recommended option and alternate to Valor. Gary handpicked this new formulation to stay true to the original constituent character of its predecessor and offer the same great experience of structural balancing and alignment. Valor II includes Young Living’s exclusive Northern Lights Black Spruce and Idaho Blue Spruce essential oils, along with Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Vetiver, Cistus, Bergamot, Cassia, German Chamomile, Coriander, Davana and Geranium.

  • Oregano - Oregano is one of the most powerful antiviral oils. It also has antiaging, antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties as well. It awakens receptors, kills pathogens, and helps digest toxic substances on the receptor cites of cells.

  • Thyme - Thyme is antiaging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, highly antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiseptic and is immune enhancing. It kills pathogens and digests waste and toxic substances on the receptor sites.

  • Basil - Basil has a muscle relaxing effect, in both voluntary and involuntary muscles.  Whereas Oregano and Thyme address the immune system, Basil addresses the muscular system. It is a powerful antispasmodic, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxer.

  • Cypress - Cypress is a very gentle oil, but excellent for supporting the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. This oils stimulates the body's natural white blood cell production, which defends against disease. Cypress also boosts the immune system, is anti-infectious, antispasmodic, and an antioxidant.

  • Wintergreen - Wintergreen supports the joints, ligaments, and skeletal structure. It has a cortisone effect that may stimulate the body's own production of natural cortisone which has none of the untoward side effects of synthetic cortisone. It also has an analgesic effect and has a chemical structure like that of common aspirin. Wintergreen is anticoagulant, antispasmodic, highly anti-inflammatory, vasodilator, analgesic/anesthetic, reduces blood pressure and all types of pain.

  • Marjoram - Marjoram is extremely relaxing and helps strengthen both the voluntary and involuntary muscles. Its muscle-soothing properties help relieve body and joint discomfort. Marjoram is also antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic and anti-microbial and is soothing to the nerves as well.

  • Aroma Siez™ - Aroma Siez™ an advanced complex of anti-inflammatory, muscle-relaxing essential oils that promote circulation and relieve headaches and tight, inflamed, aching muscles resulting from injury, fatigue, or stress. Aroma Siez includes Young Living's Basil, Marjoram, Lavender, Peppermint and Cypress oils.

  • Peppermint - This is the only natural source of menthol, which addresses the digestive, respiratory, and nervous systems. But the best thing about Peppermint oil is that when you layer it on top of other oils, it amplifies and supports all of the previous oils. Peppermint also detoxifies the liver and is great for clearing out the sinuses and the lungs. This oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoral, antiparasitic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and pain relieving properties.

  • ***WHITE ANGELICA*** - As a special perk when you receive Raindrop with Quantum Viriditas, White Angelica, (not commonly given with Raindrop), will be incorporated into your Raindrop session! White Angelica addresses many different facets of one's physical, emotional, and energetic makeup by renewing a sense of strength and protection thereby creating an enhanced impression of wholeness and wellbeing. Its frequency neutralizes negative energy and gives a feeling of security. Oils included in the blend are sweet almond oil, Bergamot, Myrrh, Geranium, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Coriander, Black Spruce, Melissa, Hyssop, and Rose.

  • V6 Enhanced Vegetable Massage Oil - For those with sensitive skin, these essential oils may be diluted with V6 Enhanced Vegetable Massage Oil. This oil complex consists of Coconut Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Olive Fruit Oil. Be assured you will still receive all the benefits of the essential oils applied. If a burning sensation is experienced, it is an indication that your body is absorbing the oils too fast. The V6 complex will merely slow the absorption rate thereby eliminating the burning sensation.

Do I undress for a Raindrop Session?

Because Raindrop is applied to the feet, back, and neck; the client will disrobe to their comfort level that will grant access for the application of oils to these areas. During the first half of the Raindrop session, you will be lying on your back while oils are applied to the feet. During the second half of the Raindrop session, the client is lying face down while the oils are applied to the back along the spine. When we come towards the end of the session, after applying the hot or cold towel, the therapist will perform a final technique to encourage lymphatic drainage within the spine and finish with different relaxing techniques while the towels do their work. The therapist will then remove the towels and leave the room while the client carefully sits up, waits till he/she is reoriented, then he/she will carefully get up from the table and dress.

Do I have to remove all my jewelry?

The Raindrop Technique re-establishes the natural flow of inner energy. Many people report feeling "energy" running through their bodies during their session. The current induced by the Raindrop Technique runs along the electrical nerve pathways in the spine. Essential oils are also electrical in nature and contain healing molecules. When poor health creates a gap or malfunction along the nerve pathways, essential oils applied to the skin in combination with the Raindrop technique acts like a jump-start to faulty electrical circuitry, helping to restore proper function and increased speed for healing.

Due to the electrical nature of bodywork, wearing metal on your skin can interfere with the health enhancing process, so please removal all jewelry before the session (if it is easily removable). Certainly, you cannot remove metal inside the body. However, metal inside the body is not so much of a problem because it is encased in our tissues, body fluids, and so forth.

Should I shower after my Raindrop treatment?

It's up to you. The oils are in every cell of your body within 20 minutes of application. However, many people love to leave the essential oils on their skin for as long as possible. If this is you, you may want to shower before coming to your session.

Will I experience any discomfort during the treatment?

In the case of Raindrop, the use of certain undiluted essential oils typically causes minor reddening and "heat" in the tissues. Individuals who have fair skin such as blondes and redheads or those persons whose systems are toxic are more susceptible to this temporary reddening. While temporary mild warming is normal for Raindrop, if you do experience any itching, prickling, or heat on your skin and it becomes too uncomfortable, the practitioner will be able to easily cool the area down using the V6 carrier oil... but only if you say something!

Are there any "side effects" after getting a Raindrop treatment?

It should be noted that the Raindrop Technique encourages the detoxification of the body. When the healing essence of these essential oils are applied directly to the spinal column, where it is believed that viruses and bacteria lie dormant until the immune system weakens, the oils create an environment that is not hospitable to these “foreign” agents in our bodies and causes them to be eliminated naturally. Some may experience mild side effects. These mild side effects may include emotional releases/mood swings, headaches, tiredness, sinus drainage, skin rash, soreness or strong smelling urine/stool. Most symptoms will pass in a day or two.

Some may feel relaxed, have a keen sense of awareness, or may be energized. Each person's experience will vary due to varying life circumstances of the individual.

*Note: If a rash should appear, it is an indication of a chemical reaction between the oils and synthetic compounds in the skin cells and the interstitial fluid of the body (usually from conventional personal care products). Some misconstrue this as an allergic reaction; when in fact, the problem is not caused by an allergy, but rather by foreign chemicals already imbedded in the tissues. What you are in fact experiencing is detoxification. Essential oils are known to digest toxic waste, chemicals, and other unwanted toxins in the body; and sometimes that process starts to work very quickly. Click

Will I go through a detoxification process?

It is impossible to avoid toxic exposure in today's world. It is in the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. These chemicals can build up in the body's tissues and pave the way for dis-ease.

Due to the penetrating properties of the essential oils, it is possible that you will experience a mild to moderate 'detox' after your first few Raindrop treatments if you either have an overload of toxins in your body or your body's channels of elimination (urine, bowel, breath, skin) are not working optimally.

You have a good chance of detoxing if you:

  • Have ever worked with a lot of chemicals, e.g. hairdresser, housecleaner, painter, etc.

  • Have ever taken regular pharmaceutical or recreational drugs, or are or ever have been a smoker

  • Have ever received any vaccinations in your lifetime

  • Have any digestive issues

  • Have ever had a recent acute or long-term illness, e.g. diabetes, allergies, asthma, acne, eczema, depression, etc.

  • Have a history of skin rashes or headaches

How often can I receive a Raindrop treatment?

Experiencing the wonderful results of a first time Raindrop application does not mean that all the desired benefits will be realized. One Raindrop session might be just a time to balance and relax the body. Some individuals may feel they want to have a Raindrop weekly, biweekly, monthly, or just once every three or four months. Other individuals working on structural realignment or needing emotional support may choose to have Raindrop done a weekly basis to continue with their progress.  It is your choice as to how often you receive a Raindrop treatment. Each person's needs are different. The best advice I can give you is to pay attention and listen to your body.

Can children receive Raindrop?
Raindrop Technique is an experience for everyone at any age for whatever the need or desire may be, and perhaps it is just a time of quiet relaxation and enjoyment. Children tend to respond more positively and even faster than adults because they do not have any preconceived ideas about what may happen or what they want to have happen or experience. They just love it and often fall asleep, while the essential oils, V6 oil (if needed), and massage fill them with peace and contentment as body systems harmonize together.

***The Raindrop Technique is not a cure-all or magic bullet. A healthy, balanced body is the results of a well-rounded program of exercise, proper diet and sufficient sleep. Health is everything we do, say, see, eat and think along with drinking plenty of water and getting enough restful sleep. The Raindrop Technique is only one tool to help restore balance in the body that will result in good health. Healthy eating habits and a positive, open mind will help prepare the body and skin to accept the oils better and more rapidly.***
